Vega Checkboxes aren't using UX best practice

these square filled in multi selects don't follow conventional design patterns users are familiar with.

Convential patterns: (see attachments)
1. Round multi select filled in once selected with a smaller inner circle

2. Square check box with a checkmark to indicate you have activated.

Currently, we have a square checkbox with a filled in square upon selection. (see attachments)
